På fredag är det premiär för årets upplaga av Trunkfunks glassterrass! Först ut av de internationella bokningarna är Fort Romeau, eller Mike Greene som han egentligen heter.
Hi Mike! How are you?
– Yo! Yes, good thanks.
What does a normal Monday look like for you?
– Mondays are usually pretty slow after the weekend gigging. I normally take it pretty easy, do the boring admin stuff and emails and sort things out for the label.
In January you released Secrets & Lies. In what way is it different compared to your earlier work?
– I suppose its sort of following a progression from my LP Insides but with a more stripped back and focused approach for the dancers.
Has music, and making your own music, always been ”your thing”?
– Yeah, I’ve been interested in and making music most of my life, playing instruments and buying and listening to records, then CDs, then records again.
This is your first visit to Gothenburg? What do you expect?
– Yes! I have no expectations, just going to take it as it comes!
And what can we expect at Yaki-Da this Friday?
– Some records will be played, that is all i can assure you.
Besides Fort Romeau, who should we check out right now?
– Bezier, Jonathan Kusuma, new Jackson, Orson wells, Dorisburg.
What are your plans this summer?
– Playing lots of festivals and clubs and hopefully enjoying a few delicious cocktails on the beach.
If you could choose any place in the world and make a dance-floor out of it – where would it be?
– I would do a pop up club at MUSA, the underwater museum in Cancun. The music would have to be very down tempo as people wouldn’t really be able to move very quickly.
Sounds great! Thanks for the interview and welcome to Gothenburg!
– Thanks!
