På fredag är det Amsterdambaserade Hunees tur att inta Trunkfunks glassterrass – med nysläppta albumet Hunch Music i fickan, och en kokosglass i handen.
Hi Hunee! How are you?
– Good, just really good. Thanks.
Have you been to Sweden before? And what do you expect from your visit?
– I have been to Sweden, both Stockholm and Gothenburg, a few times and it was mostly really good, maybe even all the time. I also have a good friend living in Stockholm, so every time i go to any place in Sweden, I think, aww, close to my friend Mark. I expect the party of my life.
Sounds reasonable. Tell us about your new album!
– It’s out and about.
Do people ever mix up Hunee and the Swedish DJ HNNY?
– All the time. Guess there is nothing we can do about it … anyhow, my name is actually pronounced ”who-knee”, not that it would help the confusion.
What music did you listen to growing up?
– Korean celebrational drum music, Mozart, The Beatles (my parents top 3) as a child, later on I listened to rap music, every day all day.
Describe a perfect night out for you!
– When things get wild and everyone loves themselves a bit more, and feels really free and open and good about the music and the dancing and then cry a little, because of that one melody at 5 am, sheer joy.
Besides Hunee, what artists should we ABSOLUTELY NOT miss right now?
– Everyone from Red Light Records, Tako, Abel, James, Jamie Tiller, Invisible City Guys, John Gomez, Carlos Souffront, Antal, Young Marco, The Swimmers, aww, there’s so many great ones out there.
This week you’ll be playing at Trunkfunk’s ”Ice cream Terrace” – what’s your favorite ice cream?
– I love hippie food so yeah, coconut soy ice cream (not too sweet please)!
Thanks for the interview, and good luck with the gig on Friday!
– Ay ay!
