Tora

Tora är bandet som du lyssnar på när Bon Iver och James Blake känns old news. Djungeltrumman förutspår en lovande framtid för dessa australiensiska killar och ikväll ser du dem på en Pustervik-scen nära dig!

Hey Tora! Whom am I talking to?
– Hey, right now this is Shaun, Jo and Toby all together.

Tora means now in Greek. What are you doing, or what would you rather do right now?
– We just got back from Mexico to our apartment near Frankfurt. We are listening to Tame Impala, while we pack for the drive to Scandinavia. We are happy, but we’d rather be in Sweden right now, without the day of driving in-between.

Present yourselves to our readers!
– We are five guys from Byron Bay, Australia. We have been traveling the world for the past few months, playing shows and finding inspiration for new music in some of the beautiful corners of our earth. The music we make is a product of our friendships and a reflection of our moods, so usually it’s pretty chilled, but sometimes we get a little crazy.

Tell me the best version of how you became Tora?
– It’s a long story … but to put it simply. The three of us (Jo, Shaun and Toby) were in a high school band when we were 13. We all dropped out of school at age 16 to pursue music. In 2013 we started Tora with some of our other friends from school, Jai and Thorne.

Why do we need your songs on our playlists?
– You won’t know if you need it until you try it, have a listen.

You’re on tour! That’s great! And you’re visiting us here in Gothenburg! Welcome! Is this your first time here?
– Yes, we have been away from Australia for almost five months, touring through USA, Canada, Mexico and Europe. As a band this is our first time in Gothenburg, so we are really excited to explore, and meet Swedish people.

What do you think of Swedish music?
– In honesty, we don’t know many Swedish bands, but we absolutely love Little Dragon which is why we covered their song Twice.

Finish the sentence: On Thursday we’ll be playing at Pustervik and you…
–… should all come for a dance, we want to see how you party in Sweden.
